Grand Bahama is the northernmost of the islands of the Bahamas, and the closest major island to the Unites States, lying just 80 miles. It is the fourth largest island in the Bahamas island chain of approximately 700 islands and 2,400 cays. The island is 530 square miles, 96 miles long from east to west and 17 miles at its widest point. The official language is British.
